The University of Hawaii Board of Regents is accepting nominations to fill four soon-to-be-open board seats, including one for Hawaii County.
The University of Hawaii Board of Regents is accepting nominations to fill four soon-to-be-open board seats, including one for Hawaii County.
Whoever is chosen for the Hawaii County seat will begin July 1 and will serve a five-year term. The seat currently is occupied by Douglas Shinsato. Shinsato was appointed in August to serve for the remainder of this term. The seat was vacated by the late Barry Mizuno.
Other open seats are: one for Maui County, one at-large seat and a student seat for a two-year term.
Candidates must reside in the geographic area they represent. Candidates for the student seat must be UH students.

Completed applications must be received or postmarked by 11:59 p.m. Oct. 13.
Board members serve voluntarily and are not paid.
